This is NOT your traditional ‘pound cake’ recipe!
Use a heavy duty mixer, a heavy duty pound cake pan and follow the recipe to the letter and you are guaranteed a fabulous stand alone cake or add strawberries 🍓 and cream to take it over the top.
This recipe was given to me by my mother-in-law when Bill and I got married. She didn’t cook much so I knew if it was a recipe she liked then it would be a guaranteed success!
Special hints –
1-important to beat batter a full 10 minutes .
2-Grease and flour fully to aid in getting it out of the pan.
3-After cooking 45 minutes let it rest in the pan on a cooling rack 10 minutes before attempting to turn it out.
Our grands like to add ‘fairy dust’ to decorate (powdered sugar)🧚♀️
